Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower has introduced the Workplace Fairness Bill in Parliament, aimed at providing employees with more avenues to seek recourse when they face discrimination. However, while the legislation will protect various social groups from workplace discrimination, it explicitly excludes sexual orientation and gender identity as protected characteristics.

This event provided a critical look at the implications of this exclusion, highlight workplace experiences for LGBTQ+ employees, and underscore the ongoing need for companies to build inclusive workplaces and foster fair treatment for all. More event details here.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights), Wicked is the first chapter of a two-part immersive, cultural celebration. The movie explores themes of friendship, power, and social justice. Wicked delves into the backstories of misunderstood characters, challenging traditional notions of good and evil. Inclusivity plays a significant role in both the film and its production.

To kick off this event, we brought together a panel of diverse individuals to reflect on the interconnected themes of identity, acceptance and friendship as they share their personal stories in a panel on “Defying Labels: Family, Friendship and Identity”.
