Navigating Singapore's Upcoming Workplace Fairness Legislation

Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower has introduced the Workplace Fairness Bill in Parliament, aimed at providing employees with more avenues to seek recourse when they face discrimination. However, while the legislation will protect various social groups from workplace discrimination, it explicitly excludes sexual orientation and gender identity as protected characteristics.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights), Wicked is the first chapter of a two-part immersive, cultural celebration. The movie explores themes of friendship, power, and social justice. Wicked delves into the backstories of misunderstood characters, challenging traditional notions of good and evil. Inclusivity plays a significant role in both the film and its production.

To kick off this event, we brought together a panel of diverse individuals to reflect on the interconnected themes of identity, acceptance and friendship as they share their personal stories in a panel on “Defying Labels: Family, Friendship and Identity”.

Inaugural Q Mentors Networking Session

Getting started in the workforce is an intimidating experience for anyone, and it’s easy to feel lost and at sea trying to get the basics right on top of having to navigate interactions and boundaries around sexual orientation and gender identity if you’re queer. 

Q Mentors aims to pair mentors who have successfully steered through challenges in their lives and careers with applicants just starting out in the work force. From activists and business owners, from consultants to creatives, our Q Mentors have been selected for the depth of their diverse experiences to help you give you a bit of guidance, orientation and perspective.

Q Mentors is most suitable for young queer workforce entrants.

Q Mentors will be launched at Pink Fest 2021, as part of the Inclusive Careers Lab. Do mark your calendars for June 19 2021 (Saturday) 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm and sign up to receive email confirmation for the Zoom virtual event.
